I got my new Minotaur from Comp-tac the weekend before last. I finally got a chance to wear it this weekend. I put it on just as it came from Comp-tac with no adjustment. I wore it in the 4 o'clock position right strong side and untucked. It was comfortable standing or sitting. Sometimes it felt like it was not even on me. I drove 450 miles to Enid Ok on Friday and back yesterday. Only a couple of times did I notice it digging into my skin. But with an adjustment of a fat roll or the gun itself it went back to being not there. I wore it all weekend except for when I was wrestling with my grandkids. It had excellent retention and with the leather between the gun and my skin it never knocked the safety off. The only problem I had with it was after I fastened my button and my belt I couldn't holster the gun. So I had to make sure I put the holster on, holster the gun and then fasten everything. Maybe if I had a good gunbelt or grew some hips and a butt I wouldn't have to tighten my belt so much. All in all I would give it a 9 out of 10. I plan on buying another one when I get my XD 40.

GP --- If I could not holster my gun while wearing a holster, I'd be concerned. Not sure what or how you carry, but, from what I've read, a lot of ND/AD's happen while people are trying to re-holster their weapon and the trigger gets caught on something like the holster or a garment. Reholstering should be almost as easy as drawing the weapon, IMHO.

Regarding a gunbelt, I just received two belts from Looper Leather. You have to call their 800 number to order. They are two layers of leather with a layer of kydex sandwiched between. Cost was about $30 each, a lot less than belts from many other custom belt makers. They do make a difference and I'm satisfied with the purchase, other than the lead time was almost 5 weeks, about two weeks longer than originally stated.

Is the minotaur tuckable?

I'd love a replacement for my ctac, if so.

Yes it is tuckable but I haven't tried it that way yet. The reason I don't think I can reholster is that the kydex is only half round and then fastened to the leather. It does not wrap around the gun all the way. The leather forms the inside part of the holster. Thats the reason I think a good belt would work better with it. I have to tighten the belt down so much that it pushes the leather in causing the gun not to want to enter the holster. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II. Maybe after it forms to my gun and body it will work better.

I wondered about just that problem with the Minatour design (leather going flat w/o gun in holster).

Did you consider the CTAC? I bought one as my first CC holster. Since it's all kydex, it keeps the weapon shape fine, even with my belt cranked tight. Like you, I'm narrow in the hips/butt area, so my belts need to be reasonably tight also. I also found that suspenders worn over a T-shirt and under an overshirt help everything ride a lot better and I don't have to tighten up the belt as much.

Comp-Tac has a great return policy, as I recall, so they would probably do an exchange if your Minotaur doesn't prove successful.

A friend of mine modified a ctac by gluing a strap of leather on the side, maybe I'll try that.

I had already tried the Infidel and sent it back. I couldn't handle the Kydex against my skin. I cannot tolerate a t-shirt under another shirt. I just sweat too much in summer or winter. I practiced reholstering tonight with my gun unloaded and figured out it was just my technique. I can get it holstered now without undoing my belt.

I thought the Minatour was full wrap around kydex with a leather backing to the holster design. Did not know it was a holf Kydex holster.

A good belt is a must but this sounds like a holster problem, not a belt problem.

I've been wearing the "Answer" from Tucker Gunleather daily for almost two years and I shoot IDPA with it as well (one-handed re-holstering is a must). It's worth every penny AND the wait time.

When I first saw the Minatour being offered my first thought was it being a knockoff of the "Answer". I'm guessing the problem re-holstering with the Minatour is that the leather on the back of the holster is not thick enough and as a result is collapsing. With the "Answer" the only problem I foresee with re-holstering is my love handles covering the top of the kydex.

I have both the Minotaur and The Answer. I don't have a problem re-holstering my weapons with either. R

I ordered the Minotaur for my Beretta M9 last night and am anxiously awaiting its' delivery...

Ordered mine on Monday night (12/10) around 9:00pm..., received it on Thursday night (12/13) around 6:00pm. Very fast turnaround and very good customer service!

Grandpatim, if you haven't done so already, you need to contact Comp-Tac. They have great customer service and may have some solutions to your reholstering problem.

Alright folks, get out of my head already. Not more than six hours ago, I, "the one too fat to carry his Glock subcompact IWB" broke down and went out to Fountain Firearms in Houston. I met Patrick the salesman, I explained that I had resorted to carrying my primary pistol in a canvas pouch, which worked just fine when dressed for work (jeans with untucked t-shirt) but that I needed something for carrying when formaly dressed - ie: tucked in shirt. I explained that with the cheap IWB holsters the pain of stabbing sights, poking flesh, pulling of body hair (sorry folks but honest truth) was just too much.
Patrick was the consoment salesman. He listened to my concerns and never even laughed out loud. He introduced me to Infidel Kydex produced just for my model of pistol - and behold - I can carry IWB!. I was ignorant to the benefits of a properly molded holster, and even at my ripe old age I'm not to proud to admitt I have seen the light!. I can sit, stand, bend, stretch, you name it and my Glock stays in place and does not cause me pain. Considering it cost less than one tenth of the price of the gun I consider it so well worth it. After all, what use is a sub-compact if you can't carry it without screaming "look I have this additional pouch attached to my belt therefore I must have something in it!" Now I can carry without apprearing to be carrying - and is this not our goal?
