It was more like 4-something AM. I managed to sleep through it, but my senior Chihuahua didn't. And since she was already up, she woke 'dad' up at 4:30am so that she could go water the back yard, then come back in and have breakfast early.

Just another of the many reasons I have not owned a cell phone since 2004.
No plans on changing that.

I own a cell phone for my business, BUT, there are no "alerts" turned on and the entire phone is OFF when I get home.

I've gotten along great for over 80 years without having "alerts"!

Yeah, my wife has one, but audible alerts are turned off.
If she wants to view them when she wakes up, great.
No need to turn anything "on" or "off" daily, hourly, etc.

If the world comes to an end and I'm somehow the last to know...my bad.
Not something I lose sleep over.

After waking the missus and me at 0'dark:30 like that, there’s no hope of him surviving an encounter with The Annoyed Woman.

You know you are my only friend who doesn’t have a cell phone. The other day when we met up it would have been easier if you had one. When we left I told my wife that I wanted to grow up to be like you.
:smilelol5:

That being said you are my hero. When and if God allows me to retire and move back to East Texas I plan on living just like you. Absolutely NO cell phone.

Also I have all of my alerts turned off. However my wife doesn't and it was around 4:00AM.

Clearly I made the right decision to turn all my alerts off.

Any update on the suspect in the alert? Did they catch this loser?

My android phone has a Do Not Disturb setting, which I have set to automatically turn on at 11PM and terminate at 7AM. Nothing gets thru except alarms that I have set and calls/texts from people in my contact list on the phone. I saw the alert on my screen when I woke up but it didn't make any noise to wake me.

Y'all are preaching to the choir here. The majority of Amber alerts (birth-17), clear alerts (age 18-64), silver alerts (= or >65), and blue alerts are useless. Most of the time they come from hundreds of miles away from where YOU live, and sometimes they have no vehicle description or number plate. Most of the time you never even find out if the perps were caught.

I can note ONE success though. A church friend who had dementia problem left his home in Lake Dallas (Denton County) on or around Thanksgiving Day one year. No one knew where he was. Fast forward to Vernon, Texas, 161 miles from Lake Dallas. He stopped for gas and the store clerk recognized him from the silver alert. The Wilbarger County Sheriffs Office responded, made contact, had him lock this car, and brought him to the station to contact his family. When the family asked him where he was going, he said he was going to the deer lease in Brownwood, Texas. Sorry, you took the wrong vector!

FCC gets thousands of complaints about early morning notification. Says not my job.

Wanted man is still at large and is suspected to be in Wichita, Kansas.
