The French elite tactical unit, GIGN (Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale), is a highly skilled counter-terrorism and hostage rescue unit. They are known for their rigorous training and specialization in various tactical skills, including counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, surveillance of national threats, and protecting government officials.

The effective firing range of the Manurhin MR73 revolver is generally considered to be between 50 and 100 meters (55-109 yards). However, one source notes that the GIGN (a French elite police unit) used an 8" barreled MR73 equipped with a scope and bipod to engage targets up to 100 meters. The MR73 is known for its accuracy, with a factory accuracy standard of no more than 20mm (about 3/4 inch) at 25 meters.

I’ve read about these pistols before. Apparently they are very high quality weapons.

I bought a couple surplus MR73’s. Even used they are very nice and they shoot well. I think after Korth, they are probably the second best revolver made (that I know of anyway). If you run across a surplus one, but it, you will not be disappointed.

I sold them thinking there would be plenty more available but have not seen any recently (except the 38 specials, I want 357).
