Do y’all know if any of our TexasCHLForum members have been affected by the Hill Country floods?

I cannot imagine the pain to lose a little daughter like this.

My heart is broken for these parents.

Not directly affected, but my wife's coworker's daughter was rescued by helicopter. The girl is physically ok, but traumatized.

I received notice on my company retiree FB page a co-worker of mine and his wife were both victims. Bodies were recovered. My son-in-law is a Captain in the Canyon Lake Fire/ESD and is certified swift water rescue and rescue boat as well. The department sent teams, but he was down in on the Frio on vacation. He has had told me stories of some of his rescues and recoveries and the saddest are always children. Continuing prayers for all those who lost loved ones and friends. I think of those who may have no family or others to miss their absence who may have been on the river and lost and will never be known. We can only hope action will be taken to prevent another tragedy such as this.

I was happy to hear that the State is going to go with a flood warning system that Kerr County refused to install after so many years.

This is also something to think about:
Jim Blackburn, co-director of Rice University's Severe Storm Prevention, Education and Evacuation from Disasters Center... Texas will need to rely more heavily on other strategies to protect people, like relocating residents out of dangerous floodplains or expanding natural wetlands and floodplains around rivers so floodwaters have somewhere to go.
