I visited the WW2 Museum in New Orleans, LA for the first time and was pleasantly surprised that you could conceal carry with TX LTC!

I walked in the red light on the metal detector went off, the gal at the security desk waived me over. She asked if I had knives or guns! :coolgleamA: I said "Of course" and produced my TX LTC. She asked me to see my gun! So I raised my shirt up a little and she wrote my name in special book and that was it.

The following exceptions to the firearms policy apply:

Armed private security contracted by the Museum.

Law enforcement officers (federal, state, parish, and municipal) on official business. If applicable, uniforms must be worn. If the law enforcement officer is not on duty, or is in civilian attire, the weapon must remain concealed at all times. If observed, they will be asked to conceal the weapon.

Citizens in possession of a Concealed Carry Permit (CCP) recognized by the State of Louisiana (Museum security will check credentials). The following State permits are NOT recognized by Louisiana and therefore cannot bring their weapon on campus: California, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Rhode Island. Museum policy does not allow military veterans to carry concealed weapons on campus without an authorized CCP. The weapon must remain concealed at all times.

We must have been there at the same time. Our group visited on the 15th including a private guided tour. I like their carry policy - makes sense

:patriot: Good to know. I've been wanting to go there but don't like the idea of disarming in NOLA.

I would have objected to them recording my name or saving any information about me carrying. They’ve seen my license. That should be enough.

I agree, but I am sure I am already on what ever list an LTC or 4473 gets you on anyway. If you're not on a list already you aren't trying hard enough.

It was a paper list that I am sure they are going to log that book when it gets full into a file somewhere and never be seen again. i don't think they are gonna make it into a searchable database (I'm looking at you ATF!)

I'm fine with them writing it down, just in case an event happens they can display that you were properly armed by their policy. Should destroy after 30 days or something though.

Maybe it is just my distrust over what happened at The ate as State Fair many years ago with that Platinum Security bunch claiming they needed to document my information. Then the officer I did show my license to agreed with me and would not allow them to document any of my information. That group was shady anyway.

Maybe a museum wouldn’t be so bad, but I would probably still put up some light resistance before caving if they refused to let me in without it.
