It was actually the police chief who talked about not "arresting our way out"

The pattern is familiar. The sheriff in Denton has claimed that he runs the largest mental health facility in the county. He says that we wait for the mentally ill to commit crimes and then put them in jail.
But here is the question. Why does the United State have so many mentally ill?
https://www.nami.org/about-mental-illne ... e-numbers/
One in 20 with serious mental illness in a population the size of the U.S. is a big number.
A lof of the mental illness problem is also a drug problem. People turn to drugs as a relief from the problems in their lives As a society, we are not going to see any improvement until that underlying pain is relieved. The first step in that process to get the public to agree that the pain is the problem. I believe it comes from not having a purpose in your life. We have devolved from that purpose being survival. If we keep going as we are, a lot more people are going to find that purpose.

A fundraiser has started for the legal defense of the butcher and to get him the mental healthcare he needs.
Most news media stations have said nothing. Hasn’t even made the AP so far.
We all seem wrapped up with a home run baseball and what was most likely a miscarriage by a cheerleader.
The murderer is not crazy. He removed his red jacket before leaving the train so he wouldn’t be caught.

Seems to say judge who released the murderer also has an interest in mental health and addiction clinics.
CBS has now covered the story.
It appears the fed are going to get involved with a federal charge. The video shows him bragging about getting a white woman.
Subway riders didn’t move a muscle after the attack. Either out of fear or indifference.
