You're never in more danger than when cops are around.

I am a supporter of the police, a lifetime member of the 100 Club, volunteer with our local PD citizen's patrol and am a member of an organization that raises thousands of dollars for them as well as providing equipment and even trained dogs for the canine unit, which cost about 15K. With that said I believe anyone with the authority to kill those who they consider a threat has the ultimate duty to assure they are correct when they perform a raid, serve warrants or any other action and to do less is criminally negligent, IMO. Qualified immunity is the worst thing that has been allowed and no knock raids should be outlawed. The militarization of police forces has exacerbated the problem. I realize the police were given the incorrect address, but that doesn't excuse not announcing their identity as police. Using often erroneous computers to signify locations the lazy 911 caller should have verified the address for the caller and cross checked it. I would like to hear the nature of and details of the 911 call, also.

I wonder if the police were wearing body cams and if they were activated.

I’m still of the belief that you don’t open a door armed or not to anyone who comes to your house who is unknown to you.

Doesn't matter what the charges are, the punishment is the lawyer fees he will have to pay in order to defend his actions.

I believe I saw a report saying they were considering charging him with aggravated assault on a peace officer or with a deadly weapon. Potential 99 year sentence. I suspect that might be a bargaining chip to prevent the homeowner from filing his own lawsuit.

Heck, why not just go with capital murder while they're making stuff up?

I had an armed officer mistakenly enter my house several years ago. (Wife failed to lock the door to the side yard... don't get me started)
Short version... he was dispatched (correctly) to an alarm call and had the right house number but the wrong street in the same neighborhood.
At one point, I was upstairs with shotgun in hand while he had an AR downstairs where I could not see him.
Fortunately, my wife was able to confirm a marked car a few houses down the street.

I agree 100%. I ended my LE life with working Under Cover Narcotics as a State Agent. My short 11 years I am sure I do not all of the reasons a no lock warrant is needed. However I know of NONE! As far as the "they will flush the evidence" then just turn the water off. Like I have already said I am sure I am missing a lot, but to me there is just nothing more precious than life and to be kicking doors down, wearing blacked out uniforms, sometimes wearing a mask, shouting places that precious life at severe risk. You can buy black shirts with "FBI" on them either online or the local stop and rob.

We have given up a lot of our liberties for "safety." I have also found my Ring Doorbell a wealthy investment. I don't open the doors
