Got to the range to sight in a Bear Creek AR in .223 Wylde, 18" Heavy bbl. Put a CMMG Zeroed suppressor on it. I was concerned the suppressor might affect the gas impingement function but it was fine. I have a Sightmark Wraith 4-32X Night Scope on it and with some hiccups got it dead on at 100 yards. The problem wasn't with the scope. but rather the mount. In the middle of zeroing the scope the shots began going all over the place. Checked the clamp screws on the picatinny mount and the had loosened. Got them tightened and all is well. The supptrssor does a good job, though I have no way of measuring the levels. This is for hog hunting so I hope I can get extra shots off, One shot with my .270 and they all disappear.

Having a suppressor for hog hunting is nice, but the hogs will probably still disappear at the sound of the first shot. I hunt with a 300 Blackout (supersonic, not subsonic) and a home made Forn 1 suppressor. My suppressor is probably not as good as yours, but my rifle/ammo may be a little less noisy. The hogs vamoose at the first shot.

I saw a video years ago in which someone placed a sound pressure meter about five yards to the side of a rifle, and shot with and without a suppressor. Without the suppressor the noise lever was around 170-175 decibels. With the suppressor it went down to about 130-135 dB. Still pretty noisy, actually.

Then they placed the sound pressure meter about five yards away from a dead hog, and shot it from 100 yards away. The sound of the bullet impacting the hog was just as loud as the suppressed rifle. It was about 130-135 dB. The noise of the bullet impact, combined with any action or screaming from the hog that is shot, will certainly cause any other nearby pigs to bolt. The suppressor *MAY* help to confuse the hogs as to exactly where the shot originated, but they'll still run.

But, having a suppressor is nice. Go get 'em!
