Has anyone gotten a chance to check out the Rossi model or Taurus "The Judge" that holds .410 shot and/or .45LC? I'm interested in this little revolver as it seems like it could make for a good self defense gun or backup weapon.I'd like to take a look at the 5shot 3" barrel model(s).I havent found much info on it.

Anyone else interested or had a chance to check one out?I'm curious.

I am interested in it as well. I haven't shot one yet. But it is larger than I thought it would be.

I have only handled 'The Judge' in gunshows. I have 3 coworkers who have purchased and shot them. They don't seem to have any complaints. Quite a cylinder on them! Pricewise, around 475 if I recall. Differences based on if its blued, chrome, satin, etc....all were appx. 3 to 4'ish barrel.

I saw video from the last SHOT show that showed a new model for 3" .410 shells instead of just the 2 1/2" shells chambered by the current model.

However, I have not seen one yet.

The only problem is (from the video) the .410 shell was bird shot, it had an INSANELY huge pattern at what 4' plus birdshot will NOT stop a badguy (it wont penetrate)...it will only wound him severely, and an armed very bloodied and irritated badguy that is now hopped up on adrenaline is worse than the original problem

I wonder if the .410 buckshot would work better as it would be #00 buck one right after the other

the .45LC is a much different story

I have heard of this weapon, never held one.

I'm not sure what problem it solves that a .357 Magnum loaded with Glaser "safety slugs" doesn't.

As long as you weren't standing on it, perhaps.

Look again at how big the pattern was on the video, how wide is a car normally, that pattern was 12-14" at 4 to 5 feet.

I dont see that it solves anything my Springfield GI .45 1911 Champion wouldnt cure either.But I'm considering a backup weapon or something lighter/smaller for easier concealability.I'd always like to keep my options open.

my dad got the judge as a snake/hog pistol for his land. he's now had to use it a few times, as he is clearing some underbrush to build his country get-away home. when using 410 and no.12, it's a beautiful snake gun. The pattern gets very wide quickly, so if it's not 10-12 feet or less the patter is huge. as for shooting 45 colt vs 410 in it, he said that the 45 colt is very easy to shoot, and so is the 410. he stated that the 410 is more of a handfull, but with the grips on the judge, it's very easy, and mom can shoot it with no worries. the number one thing my dad loves about this pistol is the fiber optic front bead. he said that it is so natural and easy to aim, that it's the perfect uh-oh snake gun.

my dad said that he loves this gun because he can load a couple 410 shells and then some 45 colts. if he sees a snake, he can dispatch it with ease, and if a local critter that's a bit more meat or aggressive, he can simply use th 45 colt, and not be worried about stopping power.

This gun is also being touted as the Ultimate Anti-Carjacking Gun. Give a bad guy a face full of shot, and he'll be learning braille in prison (if he lives). And if you miss, you won't likely hurt bystanders.
