carry to a ballroom

Hey everyone. I am going to a family wedding this saturday at a local salon/ballroom but I've been to some weddings where there is a security guard on the front door with a metal detector, is it legal for me to carry there,and if it is what should I tell the security guard if there is no 30.06 sign

It is probably legal to carry there (absent a valid 30.06 or 51% posting), but a security guard has the authority to tell you not to carry and I would take that as legally binding notice.
You go to different types of weddings than I do though. I have NEVER been to one that had a security guard, much less one with a metal detector.

I think it was more like a sweet sixteen that I went to that had a security guard.I havent been to a family hall or a wedding in a long time so I just wanted to make sure.
