KXAN had a story on the 6:00pm news about the "empty holster" protest and how it did not go over well at UT.

Please vote in the poll. (half way down the main page)

Thanks

the sad thing about this poll, as well as most of the other recent polls, is that you can hit them multiple times... not a fair assessment of the public opinion (either way)

You mean this empty holster protest???

I wouldn't doubt it would not go over well in Austin...Thats a weird school...

All kidding aside, I don't see a problem with making this statement...It does though bring attention to yourself, and give ammunition to those who have the capability of making things a bit rough on you at school...

Remember what they did to the guy who started all of this??? they did about everything but throw him in jail for even inquiring about exempting students who are licensed to carry in their state, at school...

Watch the video... Wow... One young black man stated that he didn't want licensed individuals to have the right to be armed on campus because, "I ain't want nobody shootin' me". Congratulations, sir. You have earned my "You're An Embarrassment To Your School" award for October 22, 2007.

Oh and by the way, I didn't get into the University of Texas because I was only in the top 12% of my Blue Ribbon high school. Glad he made it...

I missed that "news" broadcast. Maybe I'll have to try and catch the 10:00 version - too bad it is MNF tonight.

If I had to guess why it didn't go over well, I doubt it was merely because someone was wearing an empty holster. Most people don't know what a holster looks like if there's not a gun in it.

What is this State coming to?

This is Texas...The Lone Star State for gosh sake.

There are plenty of other Higher Ed institutions for the faint of heart.

I know of at least one more conservative school that would enjoy some their state funding.

Once again I have conducted a scientific survey of the poll in question, just because I can.

First of all, it's clumsy wording makes it almost comedic in nature "a licensed holder of a concealed handgun"? I mean, give me a break, I don't know of any handguns that are, by nature or design, concealed in and of themselves, it's the holder of the CHL that conceals the gun. The question would be less confusing if it merely asked "by holders of concealed handgun licenses."

And then there is the fact that, once again, I cannot track the results of the survey without actually voiting each time I try to check the results. While I do strive to make my survey fair by voting for the opposite sides of the issue, I have trouble keeping track of which way I voted last time and how many times I voted, so I usually just try to err on what I consider to be the positive side, so as not to gove the nasty no voters the upper hand.
