A liquor store clerk is in custody in the Lubbock County Jail after he chased down the man that robbed the store and shot and killed him. The police said that the robber was found in the car of the clerk. The sheriffs office says that since the robber was shot off of the store property the clerk is being held for possible charges.
Both stories I have posted are the first reports at 6 PM tonight. The updated ones from 10 PM are not on the websites yet. I will post more as I find it.

Neither article you posted indicated that the clerk had been charged or was in custody.
It seems like something pretty strange happened for the BG to end up in the clerk's car.
It will be interesting when the full story comes out on this one. Please post whatever info you get.

Those were the early news stories. The later one on one channel did say it but it isn't on the website yet.

Todays newspaper had this story. Nothing new is on the news stations websites.

"Carter said authorities are investigating the shooting as a homicide."
Hmmm, something odd seems to have happened in the 21 years since I was awarded a degree in journalism. It seems they've stopped teaching budding reporters and editors how to use a dictionary!
Of course it's a homicide! When death is by gunshot, it's pretty hard for it to be anything else, except for some truly freakish accident.

I'm waiting to see what happened to the robber's vehicle. They never said in the early reports. Then I will give my opinion.

And many of them can't spell, or punctuate . . . (edited to remove rant)

Latest on the news tonight says that the employee was following him to get his license plate number. The BG's car broke down and he then tried to get in the employee's car.
Here's the latest news story.

Wow, from the different media reports it is clear no accurate story of the events has been told.
What is the most common deer caliber?

that is so funny. I knew I had to wait to find out this info. Anyway, I'm guessing that the BG tried to get in the jeep, he hopped out and grabbed rifle and shot the BG in the process. This is too funny. Just waiting now to see what the Grand Jury will say.
But what can be learned from this incident??
1. Follow at your own risk and at a SAFE DISTANCE.
For one, obviously this clerk got a little too close that this guy was able to gain access to his jeep. Kinda like that fireman that got shot after following a corner store robber in houston a while back.

Here is another story that explains it better. Supposedly the suspect ran towards the employee while trying to get something out of his pocket. The store employee got out of the Jeep and grabbed a deer rifle. The BG got in the Jeep and took off and tried to run over the employee and then the employee shot him. I detect some sympathy for the BG from the female anchor in the story. The idiots still don't pickup on what a homicide is.
Heres the story and video:

WOW...the truth is much more strange than fiction!
I'm surprised it wasn't one of those assault deer rifles

Homicide and murder are not the same thing. Self defense, murder, I am sure a few other instances all fall under homicide. As of this afternoon the clerk has not been charged. The thief did try to steal the Jeep after the clerk got out, so I have been told.
