Anyone carry b/t belt & waistband?

While waiting to take my CHL class, I've been experimenting with different concealed carry styles in public (using my CRKT folder and Cell phone). I've found out that I don't like IWB that much, even with a folding knife. Also, I find that I tend to bump things a lot when I carry my cell phone pouch OWB. As I've lost some weight lately, my belts are oversized. On a whim, I tried carrying my knife & cell phone b/t my belt & pants waistband and found it comfortable, even for long periods out and about. And, with an untucked polo shirt (my usual wardrobe), it hides pretty well. My next step is to wear my planned carry pistol (Firestar 9mm) that way around the house to see if the comfort translates.

Does anyone else carry this way? If so, what holsters do you recommend? (Right now, I'm using a nylon holster w/ attached mag pouch, but I'm open-minded).

Many thanks in advance.....

If you are going to carry IWB you must have a quality holster and belt. I didnt think I would like it either but I run across a good deal on a great holster and tried it. Now I love it. My belt is not a high dollar ''gun belt'' but it is a thick and sturdy leather belt that serves the purpose very well. It has more support and less give than most gun belts I have seen.

I’ve known some folks that carry between their belt and pants, using an IWB holster.

For me it doesn’t work since the belt loops get in the way (on my pants the belt loop is ~3:30). The net result is I have to skip that loop, and I find this to be uncomfortable after a time. It also seems that skipping a belt loop for me results in a little more movement of the holster during draw.

If you can make it work for you, it does tend to hold the weapon in closer to the body than OWB and is therefore probably a little better concealed.

But as Target1911 posted, one of the keys to comfortable IWB carry is a good holster. There are many out there that make IWB an easy and comfortable way to carry while retaining the concealment offered by IWB.

I do have one kydex holster that just never felt right when IWB but I wear it fairly regularly now between belt and pants. The "good" holsters I have are just as comfortable IWB.

If you buy a good holster and belt, comfort should be there, even if it takes a little time to get used to.
