A jury of 11 men and 1 woman found a former Galveston police officer guilty of aggravated kidnapping. The state alleged that while on duty, in uniform, and driving a patrol car, he abducted and sexually assaulted a woman who was sitting in a car on the beach. The state also summoned another woman who claimed the same thing happened to her.

The ten year old rule prohibits me from expressing my opinion of what this guy's punishment should be.

I'd settle for 30 days in general population at Huntsville, in uniform.

Even if not in uniform, as soon as he arrives in the prison and the general prison population finds out he's a former cop, he's toast.

The jury recommended a sentence of 40 years, twice what the state asked for.

I think he now also faces additional charges from another woman(admitted crackhead prostitute) who is accusing him of rape 3 weeks earlier, and also charges lodged by a man who says Woods ulled a shotgun on him shortly after he was arrested for the original kidnapping charge.

Am I the only one who thinks it sounds fishy?

I dont know. I read some of those articles and something sounds fishy about the woman. Like the part where she says "did me" to the dispatcher.
Nothing to back either case, just something feels weird about the victim is all I am saying

Well, the evidence was enough for the prosecutor to accept the case a grand jury to indict, and a jury to convict.

It's pretty tough to make a false rape accusation these days.

I didn't hear the audio, but victims of sexual crime often have a hard time expressing what happened, because of the sense of shame and degradation. "Did me" might verge on profanity for this particular victim, if her vernacular only includes "made love" or "had sex", and never anything more coarse.

I'm not sure I agree. It's tough to make a false sex accusation these days, because of DNA testing. But if sex took place, that same evidence makes it easier than ever to make a false rape charge.

Before scientific testing, rape was "he said, she said". Now, it's "he said, she said, but she's got biological evidence."
