im taking my son to the monster jam event,is it illegal to carry in the reliant stadium even though it's not a proffesional sporting event

Forgive me, but what is a monster jam? Can't tell you if I don't know what it is.

Edit - I googled it. Monster trucks. They are professional monster trucks driven by paid monster truck drivers competing for prize money. Sounds like a professional sporting event to me. I am sure others smarter than me will chime in.

That is the way I was thinking also. The whole paid monster truck drivers and competing for prize money sure enough sounds like a professional sporting event. So no, I'm absolutely no smarter than Anygun. . Mine stayed locked in a LifeJacket in the truck.

PS - nando, I took my 8 year old son to Monster Jam a few weeks ago, it was a blast for both of us! (Bring the lil'guy some ear protection!!)

JLaw: I took my grandson to the Monster Truck Jam a couple of weeks ago for my first "Jam", and we also both had a blast. My fix will last me for a while; he is there as I type this. As strange as it may seem, I concur that it is a professional sporting event. DMG.

I have to admit that I am not as sure of this as some others are. It is clearly a professional event, but whether or not it is a sport is my question.

I don't think of the Monster Jams as contests as much as I do exhibitions. I could be wrong. To me, if there is no contest, it is not a sport. Of course, some people don't think of NASCAR as a sport either.

I would recommend against carrying it in, because of the doubt though. It could be a sport and it definitely is professional.

The reason I think of it as a sport (or contest) is because the first ~1 1/2 hours of the show is a timed truck vs. truck race through the course, with each winner moving up in the bracket to compete against the other winners, with one clearly defined winner of the "obstacle course" race. Just my logic.

After the race is done and the monster truck are doing the free-style crushing events, they are still scored by "judges" on a points basis, but the judges seem to be members of the audience picked out in advance.

I went last night after all and decided to leave it in my truck.I took my son and we both had a blast except for the fact that it was loud. Thanks guys
