Bystanders use six-pack to stop gas station robber
Police say James Edward Bridges, 46 walked into the store went behind the counter, shoved a clerk and started grabbing money out of the cash register.
An off-duty jailer swung into action using a six pack of beer bottles, whacking the suspect over the head.
Another customer helped pin the suspect to the ground until police arrived.
People are starting to get it! Don't submit, fight back! Started with United 93, and continues 6 1/2 years later.

Dang Skippy!
The weapon is between your ears. Everything else is just a tool.

How bout a toast to the off duty jailer and the helpful bystander.
I for one would be glad to buy them both a beer if they ever get this way.

That jailer works unarmed, but knows that anything can be a weapon. Grab a phone, stapler, fire extinguisher, mop wringer, office chair... use anything you can lay your hands on.

I just love it when training takes over and becomes instinct. Just wish I'd been in on the class that taught 6 pack self defense.

Some folks would consider that to be alcohol abuse!

Way back when, when the BOP actually taught (effective) self defense, they taught a limited series of Aikido techniques. The most (in)famous involved the mantra of "step back and cross-grab". It was actually a great technique, but was taught with a chuckle:
"Step back and cross- (grab a mop wringer!)"
"Step back and cross- (grab a fire extinguisher!)"

lol, that jailer probably saw no weapon, and said "lets do this".
Im sure he deals with alot more than that everyday.

Ah....6 Sigma efficiency at work here. Thinking like that can actually get you an award at some of our more forward thinking companies.

the problem with this that several stores have a no resistance stance on robbery they are required to give the money and then call the police only.
