DPS Subliminal Message

56 days down and leaving to work overseas for the next 60.

After reading many posts where people have either called or emailed DPS and their status magically changed or their plastic arrived I decided to give it a try.

I thought this might be the "trick" to make something happen and I also wanted to check that they had everything they needed before I was out of touch.

Got this reply: "Currently, we have everything you need. I would check with us at least once a month to make sure everything is satisfactory."

Once a month! I think I was blown off :coolgleamA:

Does the "we have everything you need" a subliminal message?

Actually, I don't believe either is true. I don't think you were blown off and I do think they were trying to assure you that they had no identified reason to believe that your application would be delayed beyond normal processing.

I think your assumption that the squeaky wheel gets priority is a little optimistic. It would probably be more accurate to assume that those who have called in the past have felt better for having talked with a human but that it changed nothing related to how fast their application was processed.

Unless there is something holding up the processing, the guys/gals at DPS have to go through the hoops and are dependent on county clerks and other bureaucrats to get information required. I seriously doubt that anyone you can reach by phone at DPS can change non-DPS process.

But hey, it never hurts to try. :thumbs2:
