I think they're decent guns especially for teaching people to shoot. The downside is the P225 is a single stack 9mm and there are smaller single stack nines that conceal better. For home defense a P226 or P228 isn't much bigger and holds nearly twice as much ammunition.
On the other hand, it is a SIG and that's a good price if you pay close to that and not $50-75 more after shipping, transfer fees, etc.
Thanks for letting us know about it.

not to mention its hard to find a decent holster for it ..... buy a p239 and be done if you want a single stack 9mm sig ... same mag capacity and easyer to find mags/holsters for it.
but for a plinker ... go for it

If you hold a P225 in your hand you will understand. Yes, there are smaller and lighter guns and guns with double stack mags but a P225 just feels right.
Back when they were being sold, new, they were about $100 less than a P228 or a P229/9mm.
A fine way to experience SIG at a
very resonable price!!
Regards, OE
* I had a P225 until my wife took it! She still lets me shoot it.

I paid $350 for a P6 at Gander Mountain, and thought I got a great deal. I've been very pleased with it.
The P6 is the version of the P225 sold to the West German police and military. It has a couple of issues I'll pass on:
The P6 had a requirement to shoot submachine gun ammo that had very hard primers. So it comes with a 24 lb hammer spring. This causes a very stiff double action trigger pull. On the advice of some folks at Sigforum, I replaced it with a Wolf 19 lb spring, which was a substantial improvement. I haven't had any misfires. The pull still isn't quite as smooth as some of the later model Sigs.
The P6 also came with plain black sights, unlike the high contrast sights that are standard on the civilian models. I wanted to put Meprolights on mine anyway, so this wasn't an issue for me.
The P6 was designed back in the 70's, to shoot only FMJ ammo. There have been some issues feeding some hollow point in some of the older guns. A newer barrell design with a slightly larger feed ramp fixed the problem. Some hollow point (including the Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P that I use) works fine.
I personally can't recall having any malfunctions at all with the pistol, and I must have put ~1000 rounds through it so far. I've been very pleased. The 225 has the reputation of being one of the most ergonomic of the Sigs. It really feels good in the hand. This is a great deal.
