that did the following things.
1) limited all firearm capacity's that could be bought and sold to 8 rounds only.
2) limited the amount of ammunition you could buy at one time AND the amount of ammunition you could own and have in your own home.
There were other things mentioned in this conversation I had last night. Two individuals that I was talking to seemed familiar with it.

I did hear ALL of the candidates (Democrat and Republican, save Ron Paul) have pledged to support these bills (including chipmunk cheeks McCain whom everybody is saying is "pro-gun so we have to support him.")

As I was told, the only thing we have to count on is the Supreme court to shoot them down in deciding if the 2cond amendment is an individual right or simply a right to have a national guard (owww mighty black robed deities protect us  )

I'd like to hear more.

I have not heard about these bills either. If true, then they do not sound promising. I would like to hear more myself. I think I'll pop over to the NRA website, and find something relevant.

There are always at least a dozen "gun bills" in Congress. Any two legislators can introduce a bill. Most bills die in committee.

H.R. 1022, which would reinstate the Clinton "assault weapons ban," has been stuck in committee for about a year.

I have not heard of a federal ammunition bill. A number of states, including Maryland and Illinois, have such bills in the works.

The best single source for researching this type of issue is http://www.nraila.org/Issues/. You can also consult Gun Owners of America and Second Amendment Foundation. (I find them a bit alarmist.)

I have to say, when this kind of discussion come up, that solid majorities of the House and Senate joined Sen. Hutchison's pro-RKBA amicus brief in the Heller case. That is a voluntary action that could have a political price for some, and IMHO it shows that anti-RKBA legislation is not going to go far in this Congress.

seamus,

Thanks for the links. I was aware of NRA-ILA, but not the other two.

I can't find anything on two such bills. I did confirm that no candidate has taken positions in support of any provisions like these. Please give us the bill numbers, if you have them.
