I saw this at midway this morning "Remington EtronX Electronic Primers" what is the benefit if any? it just seems odd to me to electrify a primer. is anybody using these? if so what is your experience?

They are a special primer for use in the Remington Model 700 Etronx rifle. The rifle is no longer shown as a standard stock item on Remington's website. It is available on special runs for about $2K.

Electronic primers potentially will reduce lock time of your firearm, since electrons will get to the primer and set it off faster than it takes a mechanical firing pin to do so. From the underwhelming response to Remington's technological tour-de-force, probably 99.99% of shooters figured correctly, IMHO - that the added cost and complexity of a system that won't use standard ammo isn't worth the theoretical advantage it may confer.
People who use them are like the stereophile who will pay $10 or more per inch in order to get silver multigage speaker wire to improve the quality of sound coming out of his speakers.
