I just discovered my drivers license expired on my birthday back in Feb. I cant renew it online, since its a ccommercial license, even though I dont need a commecial anymore. Ill go get it renewed Monday. Think this will slow anything down in Austin?

It expired on the 23rd, so it was good when I took the class.

Having a valid driver license is not a requirement for having a CHL, so I doubt letting it expire will slow things down.

You are required to have either a driver license or non-driver state ID while carrying.

Good deal. I bought the Kimber I have been contemplatating on today, and when I gave the guy my license and he said he couldnt sell it to me, my jaw bout hit the floor. Then he told me why. Whew! good thing the wife was with me, except I had to get her a Sigma 9mm to make the deal smoother. :evil2:

Glad it shouldnt make or break my plastic, but Ill definately renew it monday. Dont need any problems.

You know, after thinking about it, wouldnt you have to have a valid ID that had not expired? Im glad I discovered this now, before any further problems arose. I think I will call DPS tomorow and let them know that I discovered the issue and corrected it. I cant wait to stand in line at the DMV in the morning. Just what I need after a 16 hour shift. :banghead:

I wonder if I could go ahead and get the electronic fingerprints done while I am there just in case mine get rejected for my CHL? :headscratch Might as well ask. One less thing to worry about if they can do it.

For what purpose?

You need a valid, unexpired driver license to drive. I don't know if the people who take fingerprints check whether your ID is current. Was your license expired when you were fingerprinted?

For the purpose of getting and carrying your plastic. The fingerprints are sometimes rejected by DPS when they arent good enough for them. I hear the electronic ones are better. If for some reason they decide the fingerprints on my application need to be retaken, then they could just use the electronic ones. Just thinking one step ahead of the kind folks in Austin is all. Then again, if they are processing my application, maybe that means the fingerprints were ok.

Yeah, I know. I need a day off.

Let's see . . .

The driver's license had not expired when you took the class, right? Otherwise, the instructor probably would have said something.

As long as you get it renewed ASAP, you should be golden.

Not to worry.

On the subject of fingerprints, don't go borrowing trouble. If your current prints are accepted, you've just wasted your money. $10 won't buy much ammo, unless you're talking .22LR, but it's something.

Jesus even said something like, "Don't worry about tomorrow. Today has enough troubles of its own."
