This sort of thing is why I hate mechanics and inspection places that just leave the keys in the car when they're done. It can take 10-15 minutes from the time they walk away from the car until the paperwork's done and you're paid up and out the door. All that time your car's sitting in the lot with the doors unlocked and the key in the ignition.
Of course, there are plenty of idiots that do this to themselves every day, but for those of us who don't it's really irritating to have someone be so careless with my property. (I do occasionally leave a car with battery or starter issues running, but lock it and use my spare key when I get back.)
