I thought I would just give a shout out. I am new on the forum and a new CHL holder. Seems like a good place to talk to other cc holders and keep up with laws and other important information, our at least a good reference. I am sure to ask some questions from you veterans soon. I am a 26 year old graduate student in the Houston area. There are many reasons why I got my CHL. I never thought I would get it until the local violence got a little to high for my liking. I guess I got it for the same reasons most of you did, to protect my girlfriend and myself in a life threatening situation. Needless to say I am not a native of Texas but I got here as soon as I could. I believe all states should allow people to have the right to cc, if they are law abiding citizens. :patriot:

Wally Walk, that’s funny. Yes I have been to the local Wal-Mart and I have made notes of stores who have the 30.06 or 51% sign that I usually go to. My local Wal-Mart and HEB will let me in but not Kroger. Guess Kroger is out. The SCCC or college carrying students question I find very interesting. Just last Thursday there was a shooting on campus. I did not hear it from an official but a teacher told me there was a large gathering of students at 9:00pm for some reason by the administration buildings when two shots were fired into the air. Needless to say at 8:30pm I walked right past those students of about what seemed to be 100 or so students. I will have to look into this online group and possibly make a peaceful protest by wearing my empty holster. Though I am sure some hippie on campus will call me a savage or something along those lines. I wouldn’t want to upset the feelings of over sensitive people.

Why not Kroger? Are they posted 30.06? They can't be a 51% location as they don't sell liquor for consumption on premises. If they have a 51% sign, is it blue instead of red?

Yes, the Kroger has the 30.06 and the unlicensed carry PC, I forget what that number is. I found it funny because I have been to other Kroger stores that do not have the 30.06 sign and I have also been to Wal-Mart stores that have the 30.06 sign. Thats what I find a little wierd, you would think a corperate company would make it a rule that all stores had the 30.06 sign if one store had it. Either way its there.

Some corporate offices let the franchise owner decide. I wouldn't think Wal-Mart is a franchise though. They're all corporate owned, right?

Wal-Mart is corporate for sure. I thought Kroger was also but I could be wrong. I also have a printing question. I don't know if I can talk about it here or it should be under another area but I am sure someone will tell me. I carry a .380 Bersa cc and I have a Houston holder for it. My problem is a am a little chunky, ok I am fat. 180lbs at 5ft 8in to be exact. I tried adjusting the holster from 2:00-6:00 with little success. It seems that 2:30 is optimal but I am still printing with a XL t-shirt. I usually wear L but I thought the XL would help. The shirt is huge but it still prints. I feel like I am 5 again wearing my dad's t-shirt. Is there a trick to it, if I put the gun in my jeans pocket you can't tell but all my weight is in my gut since I quiet smoking a few years back. You guys have any suggestions? I really don't want to wear another shirt over or a jacket in Texas during the summer.

Try a tuckable. When I cant hide it well, I tuck it. I go about 6' 220#, Just a little on the portly side.

I have a Kahr Cw40 that I carry in a Crossbreed supertuck. I wear it tucked in business dress at work and its very very well concealed. When I wear it with normal clothes (cargo shorts and a polo shirt) it shows more. Go figure.

If tuckable isn't an option, try buying the thick t shirts from old navy as an undershirt. I recently bought a Comp-Tac ctac for my Kimber full size, but haven't tried it tuckable. I wore it to church this weekend with jeans and an old navy undershirt and a polo dress shirt untucked. No body could tell.

For some reason, dress shirts hide the gun better. I guess its because it's stiffer material and doesn't conform to the shape of the gun.

Tuckable isn't the quickest way to go, but when you have concealment issues, like I will until my wife gets tired of my out of shape butt, it seems to work.

First off, welcome. Glad to have you with us.

I find that flat bottomed, patterned camp shirts will break up nearly any bulge or printing. A relatively small, thin gun like the Bersa you mention may be noticeable to you, but I really doubt the sheeple notice. You mention dropping it in your pocket, and I know a lot of folks that carry the Bersa in that way. Have you tried a good pocket holster? My always gun is carried in my pocket (J Frame 642 in a Mika round cut).

Finally, if you are fat at 5'8" and 180, I guess I need to start buying more rice-cakes!
