Fort Worth, today -- A man tried to rob a donut shop with a BB gun around 2 a.m. He struck a worker in the head. A neighbor, hearing a commotion, arrived with a shotgun and fatally shot the robber.
The defender was not arrested.

Actually, the cops may be guilty of negligence for not having been there already.

I'm curious to see the response time (and number of responding cars) to "shots fired at a donut shop."

I read one account of the story that said a local LEO was driving up and witnessed the neighbor shooting the robber. The story also said this was the second time the shop had been held up in two weeks. The bad guy was wearing a black ski mask, and he was carrying a BB gun. I just have one question, and please let me know if I am being totally naive. With more and more Texans applying for CHL's (and a lot of folks having the 'shotgun in the corner') I would think that BG's would begin to think twice about their particular career choice.

its not like they are rocket scientists to begin with. if common sense were common, then everybody would have it... maybe they should call it uncommon sense?

We see about one robber a week shot state-wide. The trouble is, criminals do not watch the news on TV and they don't read newspapers. Most probably can't read above a third-grade level.
