Carrying in New Orleans

OK, I've reviewed the airport rules for packaging and the Louisiana rules for carrying, just want to double check here.
Texas Airport: gun unloaded in a locked hard side case. Ammo in an approved ammo box. Declare gun at counter. Gun is inspected and tagged with my signature, placed in checked baggage.
Question on the Louisiana "no carry in the permitted area of an establishment" rule: Are there restaurants that have no booze sections? Please tell me I can carry when I go for a bowl of gumbo in place that also sells beer. Is there such thing as a no alcohol section, just like a no smoking section?
Looks like I have to ask my louisiana relatives permission to carry into their home when I visit. How awkward. The alternative is to leave my piece in the car where it will get stolen. Any comments from people who have transported in the airports or carried in Louisiana would be welcomed.
