I think you are OK.

You will need to get the official disposition of the case from the Court Clerk in writing, or if it is no longer available you will still need to list it on your application as an arrest/conviction and you should get a letter from you County Court Clerk showing that you have had no Felony's during those dates this particular arrest/conviction occurred.

You will need these documents to support what you list on the application as arrests/convictions.
And yes, they do go all the way back to juvenile records as well. So, everything must be listed.

FYI, you can actually call DPS and speak with their legal department to get a definitive answer.

A Class "A" Misdemeanor makes you ineligible for 5 years from the date of the conviction. If you have been good since then, you are ready to go.

You will need certified copies of the disposition of the case. If you do not still have those, then you need to work on getting that now. Contact the county criminal court clerk in the county you were convicted to get your paperwork.

Good luck to you and welcome to the forum!

You are good to go, you must provide the court documents showing the completed parole and charges.

I was charged with 2 felony counts of possession of a destructive device (oops) :leaving They were pleaded down to class A misdemeanors. I have had my CHL now for about 3 years. This happened for me about 12 years ago now in another state. And I found out through the DPS that I actually had an active warrant for my arrest in Oregon, they said no biggy doesn't apply to Texas. I have since cleared up the warrant but it didn't stop me from getting my CHL.

I was actually really surprised to tell you the truth. Now there is the whole legality and technicality if under federal law if I can actually even own a handgun because I was actually indicted for a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. Go figure...

This was in a small town in Central Oregon, if this had been in Texas and anywhere near the current time period I would be spending the rest of my life in GITMO for terroristic charges in violation of the patriot act with conspiracy added to it.
