Some folks like them.

I would not buy a gun made in Canada, but that is me.

Keep us posted on how it shoots!

I don't have a LDA, but I do love my P12-45 SA. Have you looked into http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33? Some good info there.

I have an LDA as a carry gun - half the capacity of the one you are looking at - and I love it. The double stack is done well on the 14-45 and it really isn't that thick. Good manufacturer and great trigger. Enjoy.

Agreed, and in some cases the difference in thickness is negligible.

Here is my P-13 compared to a Kimber Ultra Carry II.

Overall width is identical (although the UC's grip tapers). In terms of concealment the two would fair about the same.

The Ultra Carry could be fitted with aftermarket grips that are thinner...thus giving it the edge, but as it comes from the factory...it's pretty thick. With that in mind, I'll take the additional rounds afforded by the Para every time.

yeah i didnt think it was wider at the widest points just at the edges but i have a fat hand anyway
its no more grip that the M9 i had. one less round but its 45 over 9mm yeah even a demacrat can do that math "rlol"

I bought a pair(?) of the Hogue finger grips for my P12. Wow, what a difference they made. The gun felt good before the grips, but great afterward. It was like going from flannel drawers to silk. ;-)

Very little. The new grips replace the old ones, but they are one piece and add the finger grooves around the front of the magazine well.

Here are the grips for your gun. http://www.hogueinc.com/getgrip/merchan ... =79&step=4
