Just stopped a crime in progress!

And I do mean just minutes ago.
I'm sitting in the front room typing a response to Excaliber in my "Interviewed?" thread, when I see some guy walk up to the door (I thought). Then he hops on my wife's bicycle and starts to ride off. I go flying out the door and command him in my best parade-ground voice, "Hey! How about you leave that bicicle right there!"
I must have scared the bejesus out of him, because he set the bike very carefully on its kickstand while apologizing profusely. He walked off muttering to himself.
Oh yeah, I just realized my hand was hovering near my belt under with the fingertips under my shirt as I approached him.
911 called and police summoned.

I'm tickled to think that my correspondence may have helped to put you in the right place at the right time to observe the incident.
Great alertness, observation, and situational assessment.
Timely, reasonable and proportionate response to the situation.
Great follow up with the professional good guys.
Good judgment and restraint in leaving the apprehension part to the folks with the radios and handcuffs.
Excellent results.
But......
You're getting more practical exercise there in a short time period than most folks would feel comfortable with at home.
Have you considered relocating?

Could well be.
It's generally a good idea to get with the program while He's still in the hinting stage, before He gets to the "smack upside the head with a 2/4" part of the program.......

Banana seats ftw.
you mean you didn't pick him off from your sniper's perch/observation deck at your house (located, of course, adjacent to your command center)?

So did I! Man, I learned the hard way that those old bananna seat bikes weren't the best for jumps, but I tried many times anyway. Evel Kneivel was in his prime and so was every kid my age...

Just in case he comes back, dig out your old paper-mache supplies and make a fake seat for it. Take the real seat off and put that one on when it's parked. You can then find thieves by the way they walk.
