Long story about open carry in Utah. Nothing you haven't heard before. Some people have no trouble, some get hassled.

What's really strange about this article is that it is reasonably balanced and unbiased. This is The Los Angeles Times,
I don't know whats going on the world if we can't even count on The LA Times to present a leftist antigun piece with lots of hysteria that we have learned to expect from them.

I don't know anything about the author, Nicholas Riccardi; and I couldn't find anything useful through Google.
Newspaper editorial boards tend to be anti-RKBA, but there must be some reporters who haven't drunk the Kool-Aid, like John Stossel.

To be fair I see unbiased newspaper articles all the time, But it is somewhat shocking to me to see this type of reporting in the LA Times which to the left of even the New York Times or the Boston Globe.

As a regular on OCDO, I immediately recognized "SGT Jensen", before the reporter even mentioned opencarry.org.
What's a "Springfield XD-35" (bottom of page 2)? Chambered in .35 ACP, I presume?
I imagine the LA Times ran this as a service to their local population, warning them to not freak out when visiting Colorado and Utah.

I've seen similar articles in big-city newspapers that had the tone of "look what those crazy rednecks are up to." I don't get that impression from this article.
Web sites are an integral part of newspapers now, and they get paid for visiting eyeballs. Whatever reason the L.A. Times had for running this article, it brought eyeballs.
