Well, I called DPS up to see if maybe, maybe, my card has been issued. I was informed that my fingerprint cards had been rejected! Good thing I called!

The nice lady working on my file said to just go ahead and get my FAST prints done even though I havent rec'd the reject letter yet. I'm scheduled to go and get my prints done this Friday. So I guess its back to the end of the line for me.

I'm so unimpressed with this process, its not even funny!

So 101 days after DPS rec'd my packed, I get rejected for bad prints. If only I knew this back in March, or April, heck even May....

Now who knows how long my wait has been extended, but it looks like I'm in here for the long haul.

I'll be in the extended stay section of this Waiting Room if anyone needs me!

Sorry to hear that, this is what I am expecting as well. I am gonna call this afternoon.

This is exactly why I tried to stay on top of them this early in the process. I didn't want to wait 90-120 days only to find out something was not right. I confirmed today everything has been accepted and they are waiting on my license to be made at the manufacture. I am looking at 7-10 days.

Please tell me you weren't in my class! I've only had one student's prints rejected and I always have the same Sgt. from Friendswood PD do the prints.

I called DPS today and spoke with a very nice lady who said they are currently finishing it up, and there were not any problems. Again, sorry to hear about your misfortune RugerP345, I am sure once you get the replacement prints in it won't be too much longer.

ETA: I was pleasantly surprised at the courtesy extended to me. I did wait 20 minutes on hold but I was thanked for holding and my questions were answered in a very kind professional manner.

I don't know how you can stay on top of them when they probably don't touch your application for many weeks. Look how long it took to get my pin. Calling ang bugging them early on would do no good because my application wasn't "in the system". While we would all love to get this done in 30 days, that's just not possible when the number of applications has doubled in a short time. Look at some who put in in the last half of 2007. Many taking 6 weeks when I looked. Kick yourself as I did myself for putting it off and putting it off. But in the end, you'll get it just like everyone else does.

But finding out you have a problem with the application is a major bummer, whether they tell you in the 3rd week or the 8th week.

They don't have any trouble cashing twice as many checks.

I it put off and put it off, and i finally took the class and sent in my application and now... I want it now!

Can I ask if you know why they were rejected? I'm so paranoid now that SOMETHING will go wrong. I wondered if maybe you did the ink prints instead of the electronic and that's why they weren't accepted?

So it sounds as if they weren't planning to communicate much with ya. Would your app have likely sat there until you happened to call in? Sheesh - this is a wretched process ....

Seems like everybody is getting rejected prints nowadays. I did a thread on my rejected fingerprints about 3-4 weeks ago. When I was notified of my rejected prints I had some blisters on my fingers so I had to wait until they healed up so I wouldnt get any weird anomalies when retaking them. I did my FAST prints today. I scheduled them for a couple of days ago, but the card printer broke down at the place I scheduled them for in Houston, so the nearest appointment was in Pearland today.

I recommend everybody get FAST digital prints, even on their first try. Seriously, it is quick and easy. I came in early than my scheduled time and was in and out before my scheduled time. The quality of the prints are really clear and bold compared to when an experienced LEO did mine in ink. No faintness in any spots. There should hopefully no problem/question with the FBI on the readability/clarity of prints. I went straight to the post office and mailed them in right after.

The wait continues.....

When I took my renewal I had got 2 of my fingers in a fan. THey were cut up pretty bad & they just put a note in the packet telling what happened. Mine were accepted like they were.

They didn’t specify why they were rejected, I'm guessing they were not clear enough. My original prints were rolled BTW.

No kidding, I went to the Pearland FAST print place on Broadway today. I was there round 11:00am.
I also went straight to my post office to mail them off. I was pleased with the process. The tech gets instant feedback while your print is scanned. She could quickly verify if my print would be a pass or a fail. I had to re-scan a few fingers. Apparently my ridges are too close together! Might have been why my prints got rejected the first time around. In all it took a total of 10min. for the whole process. I agree with Ninjaneer and recommend everyone get FAST prints. Takes the human error out of the equation.

Anyhoo, back to waiting!

I think what you should do (to help yourself and all of us) is to E-Mail the Govenors office to let him know about your and all of our plights. I E-mailed them last week, hopefully that didnt put me att he bottom of the pile. Good Luck!!!

Granted, it's been 35 years since I was rolling prints, but I submit that even a novice could spend five minutes with a loupe and spot most of the problems before leaving the class. No smears, loops and whorls clearly defined. It's not rocket science.

But five minutes x the number of students probably makes it impractical.

That was back in the day when we classified them manually and pulled a range of cards to compare. AFIS is for wimps!!

123 Days since DPS rec'd my packet and boy they sure did cash my check fast.

Well as of today, the lady that is working on my file has not rec'd my new set of FAST finger prints I took on 06/13. I sent them cert. and they got to the DPS office on 06/16.

I’m officially disgusted at this "process". What really chaps my hide is the fact that the lady working my file has not been given my new set of prints. 17 days since DPS rec'd my new prints and nothing, nada has been done.

I have contacted my local rep. and have sent a letter to my Congressman, and the Gov. expressing my disgust.

My local Rep. did contact me, so let’s see what happens now.
