Tim Russert of NBC news "Meet the Press" died today at the Washington Bureau of a sudden heart attack. He was 58 years young.

My sons gave me his two books a few years ago. Mr. Russert had a profound devotion to his family. HE idolized his father and paid a sincere tribute to him in his books.

A poster on another board had something to say about Mr. Russert and firearms but I did not read it.

Mr. Russert always treated his guests with respect and dignity. Many in the mainstream media should use Mr. Russert as a role model.

Mr. Russert's wife and son were traveling in Europe at the time of his death.

And this was an election year that, you could tell, had him excited.

He will be missed.

Prayers to his family.

Funny how some heros are just so humble.
He was about fairness and hard work but most of all about family. Blue collar values. Something that is rare these days.

He once spoke on diversity in the media.
“I'm all for hiring women in the newsroom and minorities in the newsroom -- I'm all for it. It opens up our eyes and gives us a different perspective. But just as well, let's have people with military experience. Let's have people from all walks of life. People from the top echelon schools, but people from junior colleges and the so-called middling schools -- that's the rich pageantry of America. I'm a great believer in racial diversity and gender diversity, but you need cultural diversity, you need ideological diversity. And then he emphasized, Laura: “You need it.
He was part of that diversity.

I loved listening to him, even if I didn't always completely agree with him, he always made sense and one could understand where he was coming from.

He will be missed
