I know there's a lot of talk on here about how to conceal, and what methods work best, but I haven't seen any discussion on what anyone would do if they "made" someone. I don't want to turn this into a scenario question, but what are your feelings on turning someone in for failing to conceal (printing, wind blown clothing, etc., but not open carrying), whether intentional or unintentional? For the sake of guidelines, lets assume it's in a place where it is legal to carry concealed with a permit, and that the person is not threatening or brandishing in any way. You do not know the person's CHL status, and the person is doing nothing questionably legal other than failing to conceal.

Me personally, I would only turn them in for intentionally failing to conceal, even if they were CHLers. Unintentionally reveal, and I may keep a more watchful eye on them, but I say live and let live.

As far as texas law just because the wind blows you're shirt against you're side showing the outline of you're pistol that is not failing to conceal,as long as the attempt is made that's all that counts,if the bottom of an owb holster shows that doesn't constitute failure to conceal either.Omly time I would report somebody with a gun is if I saw it and they didn't look like they might have a CHL as far as age etc.

If you can't find a tactful way to discreetly tell someone that they're showing a bit, perhaps you have the wrong outlook.

Agreed -- and unless someone is being reckless (not just technically breaking a dumb law) then I am not going to even report it.

I would be likely to report a drunk who failed to concealed. A blowhard who egregiously started brandishing or referring to a pistol in an argument where no danger was present until he started that? Of course.

Heck, how do we know it isn't a LEO detective?

I would turn in a drunk cop too.

If I see your CHL firearm then it is still concealed -- and if others might see it then PERHAPS a polite warning like your fly is showing, or you sidearm is visible. But do you even tell every guy whose fly is open? Not me. <grin>

In the event that everything else was straight across the board (ie - not drinking/drunk, not doing anything stupid/illegal, etc.), I don't know why anyone would turn in an otherwise lawfully carrying CHL holder. IMO, it would almost be irresponsible for that to happen. The right thing to do would be to bring it to his or her attention. There is no sense in jeopardizing someone's license or creating unnecessary heartache for an honest failure to 100% conceal.

That's the just the ammo the anti's need to say "see, they're all out there waving their guns around!!!"

If it was accidental and showing, I'd just let them know quietly.

Now if someone is drunk and acting stupid in a public place, then CHL or not, the police should be called.
