SR9 & CHL TEST

We all know there is a recall on the Ruger SR9. My question is would you be able to qualify with the SR9 before it is sent off to be fixed. There isn't a issue with the gun unless you drop it with the safty off and a round in the tube, then it may fire if it hits just right. To be honest I don't really trust any gun if it were dropped with a round in the tube.

Thanks,
Larry

It's legal for you to use it for the CHL test.

It is legal, and in my opinion safe to take it to the range for qualification. If I remember correctly, the gun can potentially go off if dropped, while the safety is disengaged. I would send it in while you were waiting for the plastic though.

I used mine on May 3rd to take the CHL. Have not shot it since. Once I send it in and get it back, I might sell it and get a P89 or a Beretta. They burnt me a little on this.

If your instructor runs you guys through the qualification like ours did, you'll load 5 rounds in the mag-fire those, then 4 rounds, then 6 rounds,etc,etc,etc...until you get your 50 rounds at the required distances. I see no issues with using the SR9 at all-unless you're gonna be tossing the gun around with live rounds in the chamber. Why do you feel they "burnt you"?
