I was going thru my BUG OUT BAG and was wondering what all do you guys carry in your bag? Or if you have one at all. One thing I found that I was missing was a big can of coffee! Just a reminder to double check your bag and make sure you have everything you can think of without going overboard.

Based on the way the current election is going, the thought of a BOB (Bug Out Bag) changes a bit in my mind..........
Previously, the contents would be non perishable items such as you suggest. But lately, I think I just need more ammo since if I am using the BOB, I will already be a Criminal!

My bug out bag is more of a hurricane evacuation kit. Some things I have that others might not have thought about.
120vac inverter, disposable kiitylitter box. a couple $10 gold pieces, fishingrod and small tacklebox, baseball bat, Toilet Paper, Walkie talkies, camping cookware.

I don't currently have one. However I have been thinking about building a couple for me and my family. I have been wondering what to stock it with.

For some good suggestions, Google '72 hour kit', or 'go-bag'.
There was a thread on here at one point that talked about some of the hazards you might face storing some of these items long-term.
Here is the link.

That's what the "unlicenced dealers" we hear so much about are selling.

Please don't take this as a criticism of the idea, but I've never been able to see how some bug out bags I've seen would ever be relevant within the context of my own life. The closest thing I've ever had resembling a bug out bag was the earthquake kit we put together for our household when we lived in California. We also had devised a plan for "meet up" places should a city-killing earthquake hit while we were all away from the house going about our days. But we never lived where there might be a need to flee the area for a period of time.
I suppose that if I lived in an area vulnerable to hurricanes, the idea of a bug out bag would take on added urgency for me, for the same reasons that an earthquake kit made sense for me back in California. But some of the bug out kits I've read about on the Internet include things like 25 loaded 20 round AR magazines, ninja knives, camo face paint, etc., etc., etc., and it begins to sound a little bit strange to me. I'm not a soldier, and for better or for worse, never have been. I'm prepared to do what I have to do to help my family survive a catastrophic event, up to and including firearms for self-defense and for putting food on the table.
Having a bag full of survival goods such as emergency food, water, shelter, and medical supplies does make some kind of sense to me; and it would only take me a couple of minutes longer to transfer the contents of my gun safe to my vehicle if that was called for. But the idea of a bug out bag equipped for a sustained firefight just doesn't seem necessary to me.
How do you guys define a bug out bag?

This must be the infamous gunshow loophole

Last summer, I made two that were much too involved. I included sealed, non-perishable food and water jugs. Bad idea.
I will probably include some of the same items, minus the food and water. I keep food and water in my house, so if I'm stuck here, it doesn't need to be packed anywhere.
If I need to leave quickly, my kit will include:
insurance papers for vehicles and house.
pet vaccination records. (They can't stay in kennels without proof of vaccinations.)
out-of-town relatives' contact information.
matches.
walkie talkies (1 in each kit)
batteries for walkie talkie and radio.
manual can openers
silverware
4 bowls each (1 microwave-safe)
cups
toilet paper
paper towels
ziplock bags
trash bags
dish cloths
hand/dish towels
wash cloths
towels
Items for each person are kept in kitty litter buckets. There is one each in case we get separated.
cash in small denominations: for food incase we had to leave quickly.
guns & ammo would need to be packed on the way out the door.

mint chewing gum and jolly ranchers, lots of them. :)
Actually, the LDS maintain a pretty good list for a 72 hour kit / bug out bag. Obviously there's some amendments that should be made, but it's a darn good start:
