Just a quick head count... How many days did you spend with the status "packet mailed to applicant"? I am on day 93 now and getting mixed responses from TX DPS about processing delays, in pre-application status, etc.

About 8 months... :smilelol5: After my packet was received it took around 2 weeks to change to "Processing Application" where it has been ever since.

I'm at 67 days of packet mailed to applicant. When I call yesterday I was told that they are working it. Evidently, from what the tech said, the opening of the packet is not when it goes to processing, but when they have certain (all?) information entered.

93 Days and still on "packet mailed to applicant?" That's absolutely inexcusable! Time to write your reps. Actually, you should have written them a month ago.

I'm currently less than 60 days. You can bet that on day 61, my letters are getting mailed!

I went ahead an emailed my Representative and Senator today. Hopefully I can get some better answers from them.

Good Morning Mr. Brimer,

I am writing to you today regarding TX DPS Concealed Handgun Application processing times. I applied for a license through normal channels in March of 2008. It has now been 90+ days and DPS has provided no feedback or updates other than "We are busy with a large influx of applications."

While I can appreciate the increased workload of the DPS, I am quite frustrated that DPS is exceeding the 60 day legislative limits for processing. Additionally, the lack of communication from DPS regarding the progress of individual CHL applications is equally frustrating.

I am unable to get information as to expected processing completions time for my application as the answer from DPS via email are either "we are working on applications" OR "give us another 30-60 days"

Could you please help me get some answers regarding my CHL application?

Hope you get a reply from your rep. I emailed mine going on two weeks and he didn't even bother sending me a canned response.

I don't know who your rep is or what his stance is on CHL but your post made me think about something I have wondered about before. If a person has a State rep that is anti-gun or anti-CHL, does this affect the response they receive? It seems like an anti type Rep would have little desire to help out with a CHL issue.

Just received an email from my Rep's Chief of Staff saying that my application, received March 21st, was entered into the system yesterday. I now have the normal 60 day wait to look forward to. At least he was able to get some information out of DPS, I hadn't been able to get any confirmation of them actually having my packet.

Oh by the way my Rep is Pete P. Gallego.

Your in the same time range as me. They seem to be getting the March apps moving along now. I bet it won't be another 60 days. Like I have said before, the DPS reps have told me that entry in the system is nothing more than entry in the system. It doesn't mean they haven't already stated working your application.
