Criminals and their accomplices and conspirators may try to ban self defense but this is Texas and we can fight them.
If criminals don't want to get shot they can move to Mexico where there's gun control.

Your "some lady" may be
U. S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee.

She's an idiot, and her stance on this issue will cost her the next election.

I certainly don't think that we need to just lay back and consider the Castle Doctrine to be carved in stone. It WILL be attacked; I'm surprised it has taken this long. We're just going to have to call or e-mail when she indroduces her bill so that our legislators know we're opposed to what she's doing.
Also, I recommend a membership to both the NRA and the TSRA. I think the NRA is $35 per year, but you can often catch the $25 deal at the gun shows. I think the TSRA is $25 per year. Essentially, you can help to guard and advance your rights for $60 per year or less! It's much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience. But that's JMO.

I agree that SJL is as smart as a sack full of hammers. However she is re-elected without any serious competition. Her district is carved out so as to almost guarantee her continued election until she decides to retire or seek higher office. Remember that when she first saw the live pictures of the Mars lander she asked the NASA employees if they could get pictures of where we landed on the moon. SJL was at the time on the committee that provided funding for our NASA programs.
This is just another attempt to get her face and voice in the media. The most dangerous place on earth is between SJL and a microphone or camera.

News article about Sheila Jackson Lee's...um,
frustrations in today's Hoston Chronicle:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5874193.html.
U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee on Sunday called for congressional hearings to investigate what she calls ''the many downfalls" of the Harris County judicial system.
Recent incidents, including a grand jury's decision not to indict a Pasadena man who shot and killed two men suspected of burglarizing his neighbor, have brought into question whether the system is fair and unbiased, she said.
The Democrat, who represents District 18, said she is also concerned and frustrated about derogatory e-mails circulated in the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the handling of DNA evidence by the Houston Police Department crime lab and the number of deaths in the Harris County Jail during the past 10 years....
''With the many misgivings surrounding the Harris County judicial system, it is fair to say that this local judicial system has been tarnished," Jackson Lee said during a news conference at the Mickey Leland Federal Building. "It is time for all officials to be held accountable and true justice and democracy restored...."
Jackson Lee said she plans to bring the congressional hearings to Houston in the next couple of weeks.
The hearings, for example, will assess how the evidence in the Joe Horn case was presented to the grand jury. Jackson Lee questioned why the case did not go to trial....
District Attorney Ken Magidson has said he could not comment on the grand jury's secret proceedings. Horn has asserted that he fired out of fear for his life, making the shooting justifiable under Texas law.
Jackson Lee said the federal government has an obligation to look into these matters because they deal with civil rights issues. Also, the jail and the district attorney's office both receive federal funding through the state, she said.
To carry on with the metaphors: She's shotgunning displeasure at a lot of different subjects, but the timing indicates that the Joe Horn case was the trigger.

She's a Democrat. Her congressional district was specifically
designed to get Democrats in office.
It's revealing to see
what Washington insiders think of her.
Show Horse
1. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas)
2. Mike Pence (R-Ind.)
3. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.)
Staffers have proposed a drinking game to honor the Texan, who gets more than twice as many votes as others: “Sheila Jackson-Lee is on C-Span. Do a shot.
Biggest Windbag
1. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas)
2. J.D. Hayworth (R-Ariz.)
Both sides agree these are two big talkers, but Hurricane Sheila, as she’s been dubbed by critics, gets twice as many votes.
Meanest
1. Bill Thomas (R-Calif.)
2. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas)
3. Jean Schmidt (R-Ohio)
Both sides have darts for Thomas and Jackson-Lee, while Schmidt has rubbed mostly Democrats the wrong way.
Here's some more inconvenient truth.
