They say its always good to make freinds and since I love to shoot, was wondering if there is anyone who might like a shooting buddy while I learn more with the help of freinds.
I live in the baytown area but can drive to any location.
36...Medic and firefighter.
Just want to learn, practice and get some good instruction on getting tighter groups and such while having fun.
I figure people get friends to go workout and such so Ill try it.
Thanks so much,
William :patriot:

Well, I am sure that Ill get responses. I have done alot of shooting and I am quite capable and knowledgeable with a gun. I just hate going alone. I got into RC helicopters and I dont go to the field alone becuse there dangerous and Id rather have someone there in case something goes wrong. I have learned so much from others but wont chance it. None of them go out there alone either..lol
So far I can keep a pretty close grouping but it seems my rounds always go alittle to the right and down. I have 2 bersa's (9mm and 380) and been having issues with the sights.
I carry my 9mmuc most of the time but thats becuse I am not good enough with the 380 in my opinion. So thats why I figure that doing a little bit of training with someone else will help. I did pretty good with my taurus with the local pd way back when but its been awhile.
Anyway, ill stop rambling.
And for the guy in the DFW area. I head up there from time to time so I will get in touch with you when I do.

I would like to invite you to shoot with the West Houston IDPA group. You can go to our website or contact me. I've actually been known to help some too

We have a number of shooters that would/could help you. Our group is excellent in helping shooters improve.

I agree 100% with Gary that IDPA is a great way to learn some new skills and test your current ones under a little bit of time pressure. The PSC (Friendswood) match is coming up this weekend. We enjoy having new shooters.

You are welcome to just hang out and watch, but I would bring your equipment and jump in. Friendly and helpful folk everywhere that are more than happy to assist someone shooting their first match.

PM me if you have any questions.

Jason

That ammo will be fine. You'll need about 120 rds min.
I will probably be an SO at this match, so look me up.
Here's a link with lots of info including maps.

I live in Baytown

Rifle/Pistol coach in the Marines

If you don't mind the heat and bugs (or we can even build us a cheapo range out there) mwe can go out to my uncles place (20 acres) in Dayton and shoot till you cant see straight.

His land is setup to where we could actually setup a 500 yard range if we wanted to..but we really need to build a better backstop

PM me and we can discuss

{here is a pic of me and 2 of my kids going out shooting...it had rained heavily the day before so it was ULTRA swampy/soggy..but give it 2-3 days of no rain it dries right up}

here is the dir of the rest of the day

My buddy Doug (also a Marine) is a tugboat captain and we go shooting alot, he even reloads his own ammo

Another vote for attending/shooting a local IDPA match. I've made some great friends that I wouldn't have likely ever met otherwise.
As far as coaching/instructing goes, You'll probably have to tell'em to form a line.:

I live in Baytown as well. I shoot at the indoor range in Pasadena and occasionally with a friend at the members only range in Crosby. Never shot IDPA though

PM me sometime and maybe we could hook up and do some shooting.

Why not meet up and carpool to the IDPA match in Friendswood this weekend? It'll be fun and a comfortable 65 degrees in the shade :coolgleamA:

Sorry all for not posting anything sooner. I am really happy with all the responses that I have received.
I didnt go to the whipda on wednesday becuse I figured it would be rained out.
I am going to try to get to the Pasadena idpa this weekend but depending on the weather and my hunny-do list.
I was at the gunrange last weekend and met a couple there who does EMS for another company. They were just getting used to their new glock.
We had some great conversations and I helped them out on a few things that I knew. I keep in contact with them and will be telling them about this site and the whipda and pscidpa.
Anyone wanted to get ahold of me directly please feel free.

Sounds like I have a lot of freinds here to be made and I'll be learning alot in the process.
Wish the people in the CHL office of the DPS had this kind of luck. Then mabey I would'nt have to wait so long for my CC card.........
Anyway, hope to hear from you all and I will keep in touch.

You may not want to post your email address on a public forum. Or at least change it so it's not so easily farmed off the board. Try WA1EMT[at}YAHOO.COM or something but certainly don't just put the address out so that it becomes an active link as it is now.

And by the way, if we can figure out how to fund multiple hobbies, I'll trade you. I'll teach you everything I know about guns and shooting if you can teach me about the RC Helicopters. I was really big in to RC as a kid (mostly 1:10 and 1:8 buggies) and I've long thought about getting back into it. The only bad part is it looks like I'm moving to Katy.

I have to join the IDPA deal in Friendswood, I already used my one visitor shoot PSC-IDPA (Friendswood)
So I have to register and pay the fees (which I can't afford right now)

If you haven't shot IDPA you really must treat yourself to some very instructional real life scenario type shooting.
