Will Kydex mar the finish on my gun more than leather?

Kydex will mar when there is dust or other contaminants. I have never noticed that kydex really hurt my finish on the Glocks, I'll see what it does to the Sig.

It shouldn't. Leather, however, is a mild abrasive, so it in theory should wear your finish over time.

It depends on your environment. It's easy to wash sand or dust off kydex but they can get embedded in leather.

Kydex is HARD. It does not give much at all. I can take a brand new gun (any type) and a quality brand new kydex holster and the gun will show wear within a week. Of course, I will present the pistol about 500 times during that week during dry fire drills so my level of wear may not be equal to yours. However, the same level of use with a leather holster has not produced the visible wear that I see from kydex in my experience.

Wear on a finish gives a gun character. If you want the gun to look NIB, then never take it out of the box. That said, keep the plastic with the tupperware.
Kydex will never come close to my 1911's.

I have not used this holster but I tried out and it seems very comfortable and very well made. You can get that holster at Cheaper Than (very expensive) Dirt for about $80-$90.
I use an Andrews Leather Mc Daniels II. I love it and it too is comfortable and well made. I have been using it for about a year now.

You may want to look at the Tucker Silent Thunder. It's a leather lined kydex. I have one for my 1911, and I think it's pretty nice.
