WTB: Colt Govt. BRIGHT Stainless Recoil Spring Plug

I am having a hard time buying one of these puppies.
I have made two orders and each time the places I order from send me a Dull Stainless one.
Even when I quote the correct Colt part number which is 572472.

I could buy from Colt, I guess, but at this point I am tired of ordering from places and getting the wrong part shipped to me.

I am looking for a BRIGHT Stainless (Polished) Recoil Spring Plug for a Govt. (or Gold Cup).

Anyone got one of these in their parts bin they would part with? Or, anyone know of a brick and mortar shop in the DFW area that carries a good selection of Colt parts that would have one of these I could actually put in my hand and buy?

It might be worth your time to poke around http://www.natchezss.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as I have found older OEM Colt parts there in the past. They have pages and pages of factory colt parts.

Thanks HV. Had a look around there and no luck.

Would really like to get one from someone here or from a palce I can go to in order to get the correct thing. As I said, I already have two DULL Stainless ones now.....I don't want a 3rd!

How about taking one of the dull ones and polishing it?

Thought about that too.....
But to do it right, would need a buffing wheel that I do not have.
I do have a Jeweler friend that I may end up taking one to.

Ideally though, I would just like to buy the correct part.

Alternately you may pick one up at a gun show...then take it to the knife sharpening guy who is at 90% of the gun shows and have him polish it for you.

Just a thought for an alternate solution. :???:

Ha Ha....WB you art sumpthin' else.........

I actually am looking for this for a Parkerized Springfield Loaded! WHAT???? Yep, the barrel is stainless and the barrel bushing is bright stainless. I have a dull stainless plug there now and it looks terrible! So I am trying to get the Bright Plug to match the barrel bushing.

I have found only 3 places that have them.
Numrich, Colt and Specialized Armament.

Numrich sent me the wrong one and I may be able to get the correct one from them.
Colt was closed Saturday, but I am sure I can get one from them.
Specialized Armament in Arizona has them but they only ship UPS and the price is too high for shipping such a small part.

I hope to have one from one of these guy's by next week.

Thanks all........

You don't need a buffing wheel. You only need a flat surface (a pane of glass from a picture frame works great!), some adhesive (3M "77" is best), and a variety pack of wet-or-dry abrasive sheets from the Wal-Mart automotive department (up to 2000 grit).

Start at 320 grit, and work your way up, using water on the abrasive sheets. I don't know how "polished" you want your plug to be, but 2000 grit+ will give you a mirror polish.

UPDATE

Numrich is taking the Dull Stainless one they sent me back and supplying the correct Bright Stainless one I ordered in the first place.
They are also paying the return shipping.

So, I will have what I need in about another week. :thumbs2:
