Looking for a strong UNIX/Linux engineer for nightshift.

Guys,

As the subject implies, I am looking for a nighttime operations engineer where I work.
The position would be in irving, and would be 7pm-7am (oops!), alternating 3 and 4 day weeks. If you're interested, PM me. We're VERY interested in filling this position.

You guys were extremely supportive when I lost my job, and maybe I can return the favor.

Oof, too bad you're in Irving. I'm looking for something better.

Better than your current job, or better than Irving?

I expect, if it is nightshift, you really mean 7PM to 7AM. I used to work that shift. It's a great job, you miss the traffic both ways, and work a short week. Too bad I am not strong in Unix.

Thanks for posting this here and giving the "family" the first look.

Chas.

Do you have to have paper..or can you just KNOW Linux?

I setup and run Linux servers and firewall, I run a home network of 7 computers and have self taught myself linux from the inside out, heck I even use Linux to recover lost data from corrupted M$ junk.

Yes. ;-)

I quite like Austin. If I'm going to relocate, it's going to be someplace smaller, not bigger like the metroplex.

Indeed. I worked a similar shift (11p-8a), except that they ended up tacking on 12-hour weekend shifts that were a different schedule than my weekdays, and alternated between 1 day and 3 day weekends. By the time I left that job, my internal clock was so screwed up that I had only been getting 3 hours of sleep a night for about 3 months.

The way this posting sounds, it seems like a good setup.

My UNIX is strong, my proximity to Irving is not. :frown5:

We do it a lot better than that. We have "Front half" and "back half" schedules.
Front half is Sunday-Tuesday with every alt Wednesday.
Back half is every alternate Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Depending on the person's skillset, the schedule might be slightly different than this, but it'd be the general "alternating 3-4 day week w/ 12 hr days"
