Moved to TX from AZ

I've recently moved from AZ to TX. I have an AZ CCW. Since AZ and TX have full reciprocity is there any compelling reason for me to get a TX CHL other than the fact that a few states won't honor my AZ because I am a TX resident? Other than there not being any open carry (which I never did in AZ) the concealed weapons laws here in TX are much better than AZ, and I like that a lot!

I'd just get it when your AZ one expires.

As a former AZ permit holder thats what I did, though I was weaponless for a little less than a month due to me not timing it exactly right

If you're planning on traveling to those states where you must have a resident permit, then I'd go for it, but otherwise, no.

Thanks for the welcome, sbb.

Nitrogen, that's a good strategy. Now that AZ has done away with any training requirement for renewal the only reason for me to get the TX CHL is to be able to carry in FL.

A Texas CHL might keep you out of trouble near around schools.

Why would that be?
Because the "licensee" exemption from the federal Gun Free School Zones Act of 1995 only applies in the state in which the license is issued.
