Decent and forgiving rifle scopes?

I'm looking for some advice for a decent rifle scope to replace the cheap Bushnell that came with my Rem 770. Now, it's been over 10 years since I've scope hunted, so I am looking for something that I can sight in at 25 or 100 yards and have a reticule then tell me where to line up for 200, 300, 400+ yard shots. I've included an example photo:

Yeah, it's cheating...lol...but my eyes are ten years older and I'll take any technological advantage I can get.

I'd like to stay under $100 if at all possible. I don't need a sniper scope...and I won't be taking any 1000 yard shots.

Thanks!!

I have a 4.5-14x50mm Leupold VX-III with the Boone & Crockett reticle. The image below shows bullet drops with a 200 yard zero, but you can zero for 100 yards also, and then you get different bullet drops. It also gives you bullet drop calculations based on caliber/bullet weight in the instructions. It's not much good for distances under 100 yards, but due to its simplicity, it is a really good hunting reticle if that's what you're after.

Unless you luck into a used scope at a good price, you are not, IMHO, going to get a decent riflescope for a centerfire rifle today for under $100 that offers a noticeable improvement over your "cheap Bushnell." Especially if you want a range-finding reticle like the Shephard you posted.

You can look at a lot of different riflescopes on-line at places like http://www.swfa.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.opticsplanet.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . . . they carry both cheap scopes and good scopes. I've ordered from each place, and wouldn't have any problems doing so again.
