The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Saw this movie last night on a sneak preview. People stayed riveted in their seats until the credits finished. To say the least, this was a very provocative movie. Ten thumbs up, don't miss this one. Really.
Likely out in very limited distribution, seek it out and see it. In H-town, I think it's only at the River Oaks.

I just came back a couple weeks ago from a trip to Germany...spent time in Bavaria and then into Austria. I had the opportunity to visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial...I was speechless for a long time after it. I was heart-broken and sickened at how inhumane humans can be to one another....I think everyone should see this movie (I have yet too, but will).
May it NEVER happen again!!!!

I visited Dachau in '88; it truly is horrifying.

I visited Dachau twice. Once in '94 and again in '98. It is truly sobering. One of the most eerie things I noticed was that there were no birds singing inside the camp boundaries.

Interesting movie trailer, will keep an eye out for it.
As for Dachau, I visited it in about 1987 or so, and again a few years later. I found it kind of...disappointing, sort of too neat and bland. Pretty much all the barracks had long been removed, just a few representative samples were standing, everything was clean and swept and tidy and lined up -- it was sterile. Which, I think, is not a accurate representation. Granted there were some pictures in one of the buildings, but still, I was underwhelmed in some fashion.
If you go to Youtube and search on "Nazi concentration camp" you will find a lot of film footage that was shot upon liberation [abbreviated profanity deleted] the camps. It is not, shall we say, "light viewing," but comparing what I see there to how Dachau is now leaves a rather wide gap.
