We were still hunting our way back to the truck at the end of the day and this deer happened along.
After the shot I asked if the gun kicked much and she said she didn't remember a thing about the shot.

The 30.06 (assuming a 150 gr bullet in an 8.0 lb rifle ) churns up 17.6 lb ft of recoil...and is generally too much for inexperienced shooters IMO.
