I did a search and found that this topic doesn't seem to have its own thread and I thought maybe it should.

Some reloaders might find it as interesting and useful as I did. While most folks will not want to get into the business of of being a firearms dealer (01 FFL) many might find it a good idea of getting a Curio and Relic (03 FFL) License. This allows you to purchase online and have delivered to your door certain older (mostly over 50 years old) firearms. The license is only $30 for 3 years and essentially anyone who can legally pruchase a firearm can get one in a fairly short time...less than CHL renewal.

The added benefit, of which I just became aware, is that some online reloading sources also provide discounts to those with a FFL. I am just starting to get in to reloading and am very glad I found this before making any major purchases.

The best I have seen is Graf and sons

They have significant discounts on presses, powder, primers and accessories. You still have a has-mat fee on powder and primes and you pay freight on the dealer side (not on the retail side), but it is certainly worth looking at.

I understand that Midway

and Brownells

both have some discounts but I have not yet seen a lot of advantage there.

If any of the good folks here have additional providers of discounts to 03 FFL's, I urge you to list them and maybe give brief comments. I am sure other folks might find it useful, too.

Great thread idea!! While I can't think of any to add off the top of my head, I can make a few comments.

Graf & Sons definitely has the best discounted prices, on what they have. Sadly, their coverage is small compared to Midway. But the items they have are usually far cheaper.

Midway's dealer discount on many items is disapponting and if an item is on sale to anyone, the dealer discount is usually about the same. But occasionally some items have very good discounts. When I bought the Tipton's Best Gun Vise, I recovered my entire $30 license fee, Still, any discount from Midway is a very good thing!

Before the C&R discount, I seldom bought from Brownells because their regular price always seemed too high. But they remain the only readily available source for many hard to get items and with the discount, their prices are easily affordable.

Somewhere, I've got saved some of the threads talking about who gives dealer discounts. If I can find that, maybe I can contribute some new information to the thread. But the ones you listed are the only ones I've used so far.

When you register at Brownell's, in the status box at the end of your registration process just check the box that indicate's that you're a "gunsmith" and both regular and discounted prices will automatically pop up when you shop. Also, if you do a google search, you'll often find that there is a "free shipping over $xx.xx" discount code floating around out there someplace.

I have paid for my C&R many times over with purchase discounts. It is a very good move if you buy much in reloading. I have never bought a gun using it. I only did it to get the discounts. It took almost 3 mos. to get it though. That was 2 years ago.
