In case you didn't know it, Lon Horiuchi is the FBI sniper who killed Vicki Weaver. He was indicted by the state of Idaho, but the Feds got the case transferred to Federal jurisdiction where one of their tame judges dismissed charges. Rumored to have been involved in the Waco fiasco right here in Texas, for years Horiuchi's name has become synonymous with all that's wrong with government law enforcement.

Now, unless there's someone else involved with the FBI sniping program having the same name, this same man appears to be a spokesman for H-S Precision.

A while back Jim Zumbo stuck his foot in his mouth over at Field & Stream . . . IMHO hiring Horiuchi in any capacity is a far worse faux pason the part of H-S Precision - it would be like Wustoff or Henkels cutlery hiring O.J. Simpson as a spokesman. :nono:

It doesn't sound like they sell guns that most of us are unlikely to buy anyway. Too bad I would love an opportunity not to buy one of their guns.

Maybe not, but we have two rifles in our safe with HS Precision stocks on them (Remington VSF in .308, Savage 10FP-HS Precision in .308), and they are nice stocks.

Good Lord, what are they thinking using his endorsement? That's like Tim McVeigh endorsing moving vans and fertilizer.

I thought McVeigh and Nichols were the national spokes people for Ryder Trucks...

There are a lot of H-S Precision stocks being sold in the Brownell's catalog . . . maybe I should alert them to the policies of one of their vendors . . . :evil2: (Done!)

One of the things I heard about him - and if this is wrong please let me know - was that he refused to testify when on the stand. IMHO, that seems to be a lack of moral courage.

That might serve as confirmation, but I think shooting an unarmed woman in the head while she held her baby would have been the first clue.

I had no idea Lon Horiuchi was a real person; i thought he was just a character from Unintended Consequences.

Next thing we know, Bushmaster will get a testimonial from Mohammed and Malvo.

"We know first hand the quality that goes into every bushmaster firearm. We know first hand how accurate and reliable they are. Choose Bushmaster: The best firearm we've ever stolen."

Ugh. I feel sick just thinking that, as sick as I feel when I heard this story and realized it was a real occurrence, and not just something from a story.

You're totally right on that.

I was just fixin' to send them an e-mail, basically asking the "what are you thinking?" question, when I found this at H-S Precision's website:

To Our Valued Customers:

H-S Precision has received comments relating to individual testimonials in our 2008 catalog. All of the testimonials focused on the quality, accuracy and customer service provided by H-S Precision.

The management of H-S Precision did not intend to offend anyone or create any type of controversy. We are revising our 2009 catalog and removing all product testimonials.

Sincerely,

The Management of H-S Precision

It'll be a cold day in Falfurrias before I ever buy anything from them anyway.

I just looked for that statement of theirs, and I'm not finding it. What page was it on?

TAM--
Statement was on the front page of their website, on the right hand side, under the "news" tab. Not there now. Hmmm.

Actually, HSP(HS Precision) stocks are often used by mainstream rifle makers such as Remington. A better way to press the issue might be a letter to Remington, Savage, etc. and other manufacturers who are HUGE buyers of HSP products. The letter may be to the tune of why one might no longer be patronizing their products due to Mr. LH's affiliation with HSP. The letter may also explain why the writer might not be too enamoured with Mr. LH's previous behavior at taxpayers' expense.

:iagree:

What this says to me is that HS precision (very purposefully) made a business decision to have their product endorsed by this person. Bad move!

They HAD TO KNOW…who he was, and what his “past” involvements were: (Ruby Ridge and Waco).

Clearly, they thought his endorsement would help land them more Gov’t, LEO, FBI and SS contracts. Apparently, they gave little thought to (or didn’t care), that most of the shooting public absolutely despises this man.

Image

Only after being “called out on the carpet”…did they feel the need to make a statement (a really weak one).

Do I think they make good products, absolutely.

Will I ever buy one (from this point forward), NEVER!
