Chuck Rosenthal cleared of possible charges

Interim Harris County District Attorney Ken Magidson announced Tuesday that former DA Chuck Rosenthal will not face charges based on scandalous e-mails that he sent and received while in office.

Enjoy retirement, Mr. Rosenthal.
The takeaway from this episode is that e-mail never goes away; and like jalapeño peppers, what you do today can bite you from behind tomorrow.

Lawyers prosecute other lawyers all the time. Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton were lawyers.
In this case, Mr. Rosenthal's political career is over. I don't see the point in harassing him with misdemeanor investigations.
There was the potential for an appearance of impropriety, when the acting DA is a former colleague of the person that he is investigating. Getting the AG's office to review the case should clear that up.
The fact that the acting and former DAs and AG are all in the same political party is unimportant.
