Washington State action against legal immigrants

According to U.S. federal law, legal permanent resident aliens (green card holders and some others) in the U.S. can possess firearms after a period of residence and/or having a hunting license (rather complicated laws).
The state of Washington also requires an Alien Firearms License for people in these circumstances. Recently, the state made it a felony offense to possess a firearm without a state Alien Firearms License, and also made it bureaucratically impossible to obtain or renew such a license.
The NRA has filed a suit in U.S. District Court against this discriminatory and arguably bigoted move, joined by the SAF.
