At least two people have been killed on roads in northeast Dallas and Garland, possibly by the same gunman.
A man was driving a small Nissan two-door car on Jupiter Road when he stopped at a red light at Marquis Drive in Garland. A light-colored or tan pickup pulled alongside the car, and someone inside fired several shots at the Nissan driver, killing him, said Officer Joe Harn of the Garland police.
Police said the shooter fled south on Jupiter Road. They were notified of that incident at 5:41 p.m.
Another shooting took place on westbound LBJ Freeway, and Dallas police are responding to a homicide there. That shooting is thought to have taken place within minutes of the first shooting, but police are not saying the incidents are connected.
A third shooting may have taken place in Dallas resulting in an injury.

This is so scary. I have family within 5 minutes of the garland/jupiter area. And the worst part is there is nothing you can do about it. I think I will be staying home.

I saw this story on the news while at the gym about an hour ago. These kind of stories really frustrate me and I just don't understand how some lunitac can go around shooting at random people like this. Unfortunately in this situation even if you were carrying a gun there was probably nothing you could do until it was too late.

When you have to stop at an intersection with dozens or more vehicles lined up side-by-side, keep some space in front of you.
That space will make no difference when the light turns green. You can make it up in a second.
Meanwhile, look to the left and right. If the other drivers are putting on mascara or chatting on their cell phones, you're good to go.
If they look like Charles Manson or someone from a gangsta video, you are warned and have the foundation of a defensible situation.

Here is some more information.

Two drivers were shot to death and a third injured on roads in northeast Dallas and Garland during rush hour Monday evening.
Police were investigating four incidents Monday after the first fatal shooting was reported about 5:40 p.m. in Garland just north of LBJ Freeway. Police are working to establish whether the three shootings in Dallas are related to the Garland one.
"For whatever reason, this person is upset with something or someone and he's taking it out on innocent victims going down the road, and that's very scary," said Dallas police Sgt. Gil Cerda.
The first victim, Jorge Lopez of Rowlett, was driving a small two-door Nissan on Jupiter Road, police said. He stopped at a red light at Marquis Drive and an extended-cab Ford F150 pickup pulled up alongside his car. A balding white man in his 40s fired several shots at the Mr. Lopez, killing the 20-year-old man, said Officer Joe Harn of the Garland police.
Police said the pickup fled south on Jupiter Road. Minutes later it was reported that a man began shooting at a semi with no trailer on LBJ between Royal Lane and Skillman Street. No one was injured.
Police said a driver then shot at a 42-year-old man driving a United Van Lines 18-wheeler. The trucker, William Scott Miller, 42, of Frankfort, Ky., was killed. His rig came to a stop in the middle lane of westbound LBJ just east of the Miller Road exit. Mr. Miller was about to park his rig.
"The plan was he was going to fly home to be with his wife and kids," said Lt. Craig Miller of the Dallas homicide unit.
Farther west on LBJ near Skillman Street, another truck was struck by bullets – the fourth incident. That driver was struck by flying glass, said Jesse Medford, terminal manager with Dugan Truck Line. The driver was taken to an area hospital.
Mr. Medford said the driver, his employee, radioed him saying, "I'm getting shot at! I think I'm shot!" The trucker said he didn't know why he was being fired upon, Mr. Medford said.
Mr. Medford told his driver to pull over, then Mr. Medford called 911.
Mr. Medford did not identify his driver other than to say he's a longtime trucker in his 40s. He said the driver told him that he did not know who was shooting and did not give a detailed description of the assailant.
"He didn't say anything about any type of road rage," Mr. Medford said.
Rush hour traffic slowed to a crawl along the highway as police shut down all westbound lanes of LBJ east of the homicide scene for several hours. Drivers used access roads and alternate routes to get home as authorities began an intense investigation at the site.
Investigators with flashlights were scouring the empty westbound lanes, looking for bullet casings and other evidence.

The crime spree appears to have begun in Garland, where a man police identified as Smith jumped over a pharmacy counter at a grocery store and stole Oxycontin pills.
Tragic.

The guy (retired Utah State Trooper) had "personal problems"??? Did I read that somewhere correctly???
Garland Road sure is becoming a very dangerous place to live these days...My grandparents built a house and raised my Dad and his brothers and sister near the Casa Linda area back in 1938, and my grandmother still keeps the house there to this day...Everytime I go there, I see the area dwindling down to the lowest common denominator...Pretty sad...
