Looking for some holster advice

I plan on carrying my Ruger P345; I am looking hard at the Thunderbird Defender. It has the option of IWB or OWB. The wait time is not very appealing but what I can gather from other folks on here that have this holster it’s worth the wait. With that being said I was thinking of getting a “temporary” holster until it arrives and would appreciate some advice.

I am open to other holster suggestions but the P345 is not the most common pistol so my options are somewhat limited.

Also I have gained a wealth of knowledge from the members of this forum while waiting for my license to be processed and learn something new everyday and for that I tip my hat to you all.

You might try Gunner's Alley for a Don Hume. They are inexpensive. But you might want to call and see how long it would take to get one.
http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/H72 ... 21_OT.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This one is made for a P345.

http://www.fist-inc.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; would be another place to check. They have excellent quality holsters at a reasonable price and fast turnaround.

But if you want something cheap and right now, Uncle Mike's cloth IWB holsters would do the job @ about $12.
Fobus might make a Kydex belt or paddle holster for a P345 @ about $20- $25.

Good Luck, OE

Thanks OE, I'll check it out, I just want to get the right one from the start so I don't end up with an assortment of holsters.

You might take a look at Hoffner's holsters in Houston. They make a fine product, and turnaround times are very short. I don't know if they make a model for your gun or not, but IMHO it would be worth a call.

Grammy ....! :tiphat:
Started carrying last Oct. and also read this fantastic board to educate my self !!! (( Old Dogs CAN LEARN new tricks !)) :rules:
I finally went to an affordable Bianchi, IWB .... ya' see them..cheap...'bout 24 bucks !!!
I used the Uncle Mike's ( which is a good 12 buck, cloth holster ) BUT... I found that the plastic belt clip, was too weak and didn't hold up. NOW.... this is where the
upgraded affordable (cheap upgrade ) 24 dollar Bianchi comes in ! .. the safety strap is alittle better and the belt clip is solid, strong spring steel !!! AND IT WORKS !!!
Get a good belt, that is alittle oversize, then you can carry ... under the belt and/or actually IWB.
Oh, I forgot to tell ya'... complaining to the Wife about tha' big ole' full size .45 ....being way to big, heavy and tiresome .... she did, infact give me the O.K. to purchase another piece !!! .. :hurry: .. So now I carry a Kahr CW.40......and it's SWEET !
You can spend alot of good money on some beautiful nice holsters .... but.. mine is not a holster Queen !

Thanks Mac I'll check out the Bianchi, looking to get a nice holster but the wait for the one I want is 16 weeks +/-.

I like the idea of complaining a little bit... I like the sub-compact glock mabe I'll need to order 2 holsters now.

Comp-Tac MTAC, IMO it doesn't get any better than that. I am waiting on my second one for my Kimber Pro Carry. I currently carry my XD .40 service in one daily.

Ended up ordering the Thunderbird Defender, should be here mid May. Long wait but from what I've read I think it will fit my needs. Also my brother in-law does leather work and made me a ranger belt out of the heavy duty 1-1/2" leather it amazing I have never had a belt this "heavy duty" before. It supports my current holster great, can't wait to get the thunderbird defender.

Thanks for all the advice.

I have a Dakota Defender from KD holsters and it is very comfortable. I needed another tuckable and ordered this one. It took 17 weeks to arrive but I am happy with the product. It's very thin and conceals a Commander sized 1911 IWB with no problems.
